No Tougher Job Than Being A Mom

They said being a mom is the most rewarding feeling for a woman. It is probably one of the most important roles she will play in this lifetime. But, it isn’t for the faint-hearted. Being a parent, especially a mom, is one if not the toughest job one could ever take.

What makes motherhood tough?

A mother is more than just bearing a child and giving birth to them. Moms are the most rounded people so to speak. They are caregivers, breadwinners, teachers, and all other things in between.

I am not yet a mom myself. But if you ask me why being a mom is tough, my answer would be because no school will teach you all about motherhood. It probably feels like walking in the dark, you don’t know if the next step you’ll take is right, especially for first-time moms.

Imagine how scary it is to bring another person into this world? Moms have to do everything, care for them, feed them, etc. I guess there is no other greater responsibility than to have someone fully dependent on you, that how they will turn up is a result of how you mould them.

Since there is no manual in motherhood, a mom has to raise her kids the way she deems right. You need to have a good balance of being strong to instil discipline and soft to let them know what you’re doing is a way of showing you care for them. And we all know kids don’t take that well sometimes.

Moms are probably the most overwork people in this world too. Whether you are a working mom or a stay-at-home mom, there are just too many things they need to do. I’ve witnessed that through my mom. When I was younger, I didn’t care about how tough it was for her. She has to work to provide for us, comes home and does chores to serve us, and repeats the same cycle every day. She barely even had time to rest.

Being a mom, you can do things you never thought you are capable of doing. Imagine having to face the pressure of being an employee, a wife, and a mother at the same time. There is always the pressure of being the best and perfect in every role you play, especially as a mom. Moms are children’s role models. All their actions, the way they talk and act, are being watched by the kids. The mental, physical, and emotional stress it brings is unimaginable.

How can a mom wakes up every morning acting like everything is going smoothly in their life? That’s love, I guess. Unconditional love for her kids, and the family that she builds. Again, motherhood is not for the faint-hearted. It is a never-ending struggle. But comes with it a joy that can never be replaced with any material things, and a love so deep that can withstand all the ups and downs that life brings.
